Conchita Wurst, femininity in all its novelty and grace

Conchita Wurst to perform at Le Crazy Horse

From 9 to 15 November 2014, Conchita Wurst, the beauty with a beard and winner of the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest, will be appearing at the legendary Crazy Horse for a series of exclusive performances from 9 to 15 November 2014.

Conchita will be performing three acts created especially for her, based on her repertoire, including “Rise like a Phoenix”, which won her the top prize at the Eurovision 2014 and will also be appearing alongside the famous Crazy Girls in a special adaptation of the finale “Glamazones”.

Expect lots of glamour, a great voice, long, fluttering eyelashes and a beard…

For this new and exciting adventure, Le Crazy Horse has brought together a creative dream-team of celebrated artists and designers.

With Blanca Li and Jean-Paul Gaultier…

Blanca Li, famous Spanish dancer, choreographer, director, producer and actress, will direct and choreograph the new acts. She will be assisted in this by the Crazy Horse’s very own artistic team.

Jean-Paul Gaultier, the brilliant French fashion designer and huge Conchita fan (she closed his runway show during the Paris Fashion Week last July) will create the costumes.

Christian Louboutin, who regularly works with the Crazy Horse and was the Artistic Director of the show “FEU” that was presented at the cabaret in the spring of 2011, will design the shoes.

Charlie Le Mindu, haute-coiffure designer, will conceive an exclusive creation.

Pierre et Gilles, the renowned artistic duo, will conceive and produce the official visual for the show.

A tasteful blend of transgression

Ever since its debut in 1951, Le Crazy has been known for its artistry and creativity and its shows have always been a unique, innovative and fascinating experience.

Since its very beginnings, Le Crazy has been driven by creativity and imagination, challenging preconceived ideas, transgressing boundaries and firmly establishing itself at the forefront of latest artistic tendencies.

The Crazy Horse has always stood for tolerance, as well as creative and intellectual freedom. A tasteful blend of transgression, the forbidden and Parisian chic, dabbled with just the right amount of insolence, have forever characterized the unique Crazy Horse style.

A message of freedom of choice

Andrée Deissenberg, Managing Director Creation, Development and Brand explains :

« Conchita shows us that femininity has multiple facets. She is a true bearded lady, with all the attributes of masculinity, but also very feminine. This combination is both explosive and fascinating. Conchita is courageous and beautiful and she sends a message of freedom of choice, freedom to live life the way you want to. Inviting Conchita Wurst is a way of returning to the very essence of Le Crazy. »

« This combination is both explosive and fascinating. Conchita is courageous and beautiful and she is sending a message to everyone to live life as you want to live it. Inviting Conchita Wurst, with her androgynous look, to perform here is a way of returning to the very essence of Le Crazy. »

« For me Paris is the city of love, sensuality and strong women. The Crazy Horse represents all this to me. I am delighted to be part of the show, to empower female art and sensuality and to be part of something beautiful and glamourous. Performing on this iconic stage is a dream-come-true for me. I am proud to be the first “different kind of woman” to have been invited to this world-renowned cabaret and I am thrilled to be able to work with the Crazy Girls and an exceptional creative team », says Conchita Wurst.

The Crazy Horse, a real artistic signature

The Crazy Horse was founded in Paris in 1951 by Alain Bernardin, an avant-garde artist and a passionate admirer of women. Over the years, Bernardin developed a real artistic signature, as his classically-trained dancers with perfect and flexible bodies – clothed mainly in projected images – were combined with contemporary music and fashion.

It was not long before the Crazy “brand” was celebrated by artists and designers from all over the world and built up a large local and international audience of both men and women.

In 2006, the new management decided to include occasional Guest Stars in short runs of exclusive performances. The first Guest Star was Dita Von Teese (2006 and 2009), followed by Arielle Dombasle (2007), Pamela Anderson (2008), Clotilde Courau (2010) and Noémie Lenoir (2013). These special shows became an instant hit with Parisian audiences.

Le Crazy is currently presenting two shows : Désirs, at the Paris cabaret and Forever Crazy, touring internationally since 2010.
